It requires just a few items and is a fun way to teach children about how a plant absorbs water.
🔖🔖🔖 Materials:
🥛 Clear glass jars, cups or small clear vase
🥦🌿 Napa Cabbage – You’ll need 1 leaf of cabbage for each color of food coloring you plan on using.
💧 Water
🎨 Food Coloring
🔖🔖🔖Directions (For Kids)
1️⃣️️️️️️Fill each glass jar with ½ cup of water.
2️⃣ Add food coloring to water. Use enough drops so that the water turns vibrant.
3️⃣ Add a leaf of napa cabbage to each glass.
4️⃣ Each day we checked to see the difference. We left it for about a week total. I’ll be honest & say that it didn’t get as colorful as we hoped, but it was still fun for the kids to see what happens and to understand why. The leaves all got a touch of color throughout.
Now your kids (and you!) know what happens when a plant gets watered!
